Poundland has announced a line of new children’s toys to cope with the high price tag of sought-after brands.

The new line includes its own line of building blocks, foam dart guns and die-cast cars, all compatible with major brands.

The discount retailer said the prices set were up to 95% lower than major toy brands.

Examples include Poundland’s Brix Play, which fights the price of Lego building sets with its £ 1 price tag.

Another alternative is Poundland’s line of Urban Blazerz die-cast cars, which have been designed to fit all types of model tracks and challenge Hot Wheels directly with their £ 1 for a set of two cars.

Poundland also offers inexpensive alternatives to Play-Doh and My Little Pony.

The new range of toys is now available and is part of a larger line expansion before Christmas.

“Toy companies have a real nerf when it comes to high prices and we are putting an end to it,” said Richard Brewin, chief toy buyer at Poundland.

“Parents should be able to take care of their children without breaking the bank. We offer attractive prices for the hottest toys on the market.
